What is SportsPassion?

SportsPassion is your online sports social network. It allows you to manage your sports team, communicate with your team mates, post videos, photos, fundraise and more.

Is it really free?

Yes, it is really free. We do not charge a subscription or joining fee.

Registration & Login

How do I sign up?

Go to the Welcome page (www.SportsPassion.com), click on Start Now and complete the registration form. You will then receive an activation email (please check your spam box if you do not receive the email immediately). Open the email and click on the activation link. Your account is now activated.

Who should sign up?

Anyone that is passionate about sport. This site is for team players, coaches, fans and the like. Get your teams on SportsPassion so you can manage your team, share your game stats, photos and team strategies.

My Profile

Your profile contains information all about you, such as the teams you play for, your interests, blogs, videos, photos, friends, teams, groups and more.

How do I edit my personal information?

From any page click Settings (in the top right hand corner of the page). From here, you can update your profile picture, email address, password, contact details, privacy preferences, your interests and more.

Note: You must be logged in before you can update your profile.

Who can see my profile?

By default everyone will be able to view your profile. However, you can choose to limit your profile so that only friends and teammates can see it. To change your privacy preferences, click Settings (in the top right hand corner of the page) and select your preferred privacy option from the drop-down menu.

What is my status message?

Your status message keeps your friends and team mates up to date with your cheers, jeers, thoughts and feelings. The status message appears in the top right hand corner of the page, next to your image.

How do I change my status message?

Click on your status message, update your status, then click Save. Alternatively, you can edit your status from your profile page.

How do I change my profile picture?

From the Home page, click Settings. Click Browse and select the appropriate image.

Note: Make sure your selected image is a jpeg, gif or png. All images will be resized and cropped for use, so for the best results upload as a square image larger than 100px, eg. 300×300px.

What's on My Home Page?

From the Home page, you can access your Newsfeed, view upcoming events and access your teams (both those you play for and those you are a fan of). You can also view Latest Blogs, Videos and Photos from the community.

What is the Newsfeed?

The Newsfeed helps you stay up to date with your friends and teammates movements. When your friends join a new team, add a new blog post or upload a new video, you may receive a notification about this in your Newsfeed. Click on the links in your Newsfeed to view your friend's updates.

Who can see my newsfeed?

You are the only one who can see your newsfeed.

How can I view more news from my friends and teammates?

To view all newsfeeds, click View More.

Can I remove a newsfeed item from my newsfeed?

From the Home page, click on the red 'x' next to the Newsfeed entry you wish to delete.

Note: You are only able to delete your own updates.

What is the Actions panel?

The Actions panel lists some of the available options for each page. For instance, on the Home page, the Actions panel displays options like Post to Blog and Upload Photos. From the Team page, the Actions panel will provide quick-links to Team oriented actions, such as Start a Team.

What is the Browse panel?

From the Browse panel, you can access all Sports, Clubs, Teams, Members and more. You can browse to find a new team or search to find new friends.

What else is on my Home page?

  • Upcoming Events: View your Team's Upcoming Events and RSVP to events that you've been invited to. To view more information about the Team event, click Read More. To view more upcoming events, click More. Note: You can only add an Event to a Team.
  • Teams I Play For: Do you play for a team? Use this panel to view the teams you play for. To view your Team's page, click the Team image. To view all teams you play for, click More.
  • Teams I Follow: Do you want to follow a team? Use this panel to view the Teams you support. To access the Team page for the teams you follow, click the Team image. To view all teams you are following, click More.
  • Latest Blogs: This panel shows the Latest Blogs.
  • Latest Videos: This displays the most recent videos.
  • Latest Photos: Use this panel to view the latest photo albums.

My Teams

On the Team page, you'll find a list of all your teams – those you play for and those you follow. You can start a new team, join a team or follow a team.

What is my Team page?

Use the Team page to keep all of your teammates and followers up to date. In simple terms, it's a central location where you, your teammates and followers can manage your team, share photos, videos, post events and blog (brag) about your team.

How do I start a new team?

Anyone can start a team. Simply click on Start a Team next to Settings in the top right hand corner of the page. Complete the team setup form, invite your teammates and then start adding your events, notices and match reports.

How do I invite players to join my team?

From the Team page, click Invite a Team Member in the Actions panel. You can either add teammates by typing their username or email address directly into the entry field, or click Add from my address book, which will allow you to add contacts from your online address books.

What's the difference between a Teammate and a Follower?

In short, Teammates are people who play on your Team, whereas a Follower is someone who supports your Team.

To join a Team as a team player, go to the Team page and click Become a Member in the Actions panel.

To follow a Team, go to the Team page and click Follow this team.

Note: See How do I Join a Team for more information about joining a Team.

How do I leave a Team?

For team members, go to the team page and select Leave this Team. For followers, go to the Team page and click Stop Following.

How do I create a Team Event?

To create a new Team event, go to your Team page and click Add an Event in the Actions panel. Fill in the event information (such as the location and date) and click Create.

On the next screen you will be asked to Invite People to this Event. Click to invite all your teammates, all your friends, or both. Alternatively, to add individual teammates or friends, go to the box titled Team Members/Friends Not Invited, and click Add to Attendees. To invite people by their username, or to invite non-members, use the Members and Non-members box. The people you select will be added to the Attendee Status box.

To include a message, enter some text into the box titled Send an Optional Message.

To send the invite, click Send Invite.

Note: The event will now appear on the Team page. From your Team page you can see all of your Team's upcoming events. To invite more people to this event once you've created it, click Invite people to Event from the actions panel on the Team Event page.

How do I set my Team's Player Positions?

Player positions can only be set by the Team manager. To add or change a player position, go to your Team page, click Team Contact List in the Actions panel. Click in the Position column for each player, then select player positions from drop-down menu.

You can also set player positions when you create a new event.

Note: The following sports have player positions set: basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, rugby, netball, volleyball and rugby league.

Please contact us to add player positions to your sport.

What else is on my Team page?

  • Team Notices: This panel shows the Latest Notices posted by your Teammates. To view the notice, click on the Notice title or click More. To create a new Team Notice, click Post a Notice in the Actions panel.
  • Team Videos: This displays the most recent Team video. To play the video, click on the image, then click the Play button. To view all your Team's videos, click More.
  • Team Photos: Use this panel to view your Team's photos albums. To view the photo album, click on the image, or to view all of your Team's albums, click More.
  • Team Documents: Post your team strategies, forms and more to Team Documents. To post a new document, click Add a Document from the Actions panel on your Team page.
  • Team Fundraiser: Create a fundraiser for your team! To create a fundraiser, click Start Fundraiser from the Actions panel on your Team page.
  • Team Forums: Add to an existing team forum or start a new topic so you and your teammates can collaborate.

How do I post Team results? And where can my team view them?

You can add team results to any scheduled event. To do this, go to your Team's event page, then click Add the Results of this Event. Once posted, your teammates and fans will be able to view the results from the Team page.

Note: You can only add results once the event has finished.

How do I find out who's available for a game or event?

Go to the event you created and see the 'Who is available?' section. As guests RSVP their status will be updated.

Note, when creating new events, by default your team will be set as 'invited'. To remove a player from the list of invitees, click on the red 'x' beside the member's name.

To invite more people to this event once you've created it, click Invite people to Event from the actions panel on the Team Event page.

Note: Emails will be sent to everyone on the invite list asking if they are 'Available', 'Not Available' or 'Maybe Available'. The team member can respond by clicking on one of the options (this will open a web browser to confirm the availability of the member). The team manager can check all teammate's availability from the event page. You can update your RSVP for an event from your Home page (under Upcoming Events).

How do I add a document to a Team page?

To upload a document such as league rules and waivers, click Post a New Team Document from the Actions panel on your Team page. Complete the appropriate fields and click Create.

Note: You can view a list of your Team documents from the Team page.

What type of document can I add to my Team page?

You can add all kinds of documents, such as Team Rules or Waiver Forms. You can upload the following file types: .doc, .pdf, .jpg and .gif.

Where do I find my Team contact list?

From your Team page, click View Team Contact List in the Actions panel.

The team contact list contains the names of the team manager and team members and is available for team members only.

From this area, team managers can:

  • Add/Remove new and retired players
  • Invite new team mates
  • Promote or demote team mates (ie. Make teammates an administrator)
  • Set player positions

What is a Team Noticeboard?

The Noticeboard is a place where the team administrator or team players can post a notice for the team to review. Recently added notices can be viewed on the Team page. To view all notices, click View All Notices (under Latest Notices).

How do I post a new Notice to the Noticeboard?

From the Team page Actions panel, click Post a Notice. Complete the relevant details and click Create. The Notice will now appear on your Team page.

Note: Administrators can also delete or edit Notices. From the team page, click View All Notices, then click Manage Noticeboard in the Actions panel.

Fundraising

Any team can start a fundraiser, just follow the instructions below!

How do I start a Fundraiser?

From your Team page, click Start a Fundraiser in the Actions panel. Complete the form, including your target date and amount, then click Create.

How do I contribute to a Fundraiser?

Enter the amount you wish to pledge on the Team Fundraiser page. To make the payment, please contact the Team Administrator.

Blogs & Notices

How do I add a blog post or notice?

From the Home page, click on Post a Blog in the Actions panel. Enter the title, your text and tags. Then select if you would like to accept comments, publish the blog so others can see it immediately and set the privacy preferences, then click Create. To add a notice to your Team, go to your Team page and click 'Add a notice'.

Note: To see the available formatting options for blog posts, click on Show shortcuts below the body content box.

How do I edit or delete a blog post?

From the Home page, click on My Blogs in the Profile panel. From your Blog page, click Manage Blogs in the Actions panel. This allows you to edit, publish/un-publish or delete a post.

Note: Once deleted you will not be able to access the deleted content. It's good practice to un-publish an article instead of deleting it (that way you can access it in the future if you want to re-publish it).

Photos

How do I start a new album?

From the Actions panel on your Home page, click Upload Photos, then select Add an Album.

Note: You must create an album before you can upload a photo.

How do I add photos to an album?

From the Actions panel on your Home page, click Upload Photos, then select Upload Photo (to add one photo) or Upload Multiple Photos.

Note: You can add photos to your personal profile, to your Team or to you Group. To add photos to you Team, click Upload Photos from the Actions panel on your Team. To add a photo to you Group, go to your Group's page and click Upload Photo or click Create a New Photo Album from the Latest Photos panel.

Videos

How do I add a video?

Videos can be uploaded directly from your computer or added by embedding the code from sites like YouTube.

To add a video, from the Actions panel on your Home page, click Post Video. Enter the name of your video, a short description and some tags, then click Create.

To upload a video, click Browse, select your video file, then click Upload Video.

To embed a video from video sharing sites like YouTube, under Video Code, paste the embed code and click Create.

Note: You can add videos to your personal profile or to your Team page. To add a video to you Team page, click Post Video from the Actions panel on your Team page.

What is the Inbox?

The Inbox is used to send private messages internally to registered members. To view your Inbox, select Inbox from the menu. The number next to 'Inbox' indicates if you have any messages. Note that you are only able to send messages to members that are your teammates and friends. You can also send to non-members by adding their email address directly.

Tip: To send a message to a friend go to your friend's profile, then click Send Message.

Friends & Teammates

How do I connect with my friends and teammates?

Do you want your teammates and friends to join you? If your friend is not yet a member, click Invite a Friend, which you can find in the top right hand corner of the page. Simply enter your friend's email addresses one by one or click Add From My Address Book to invite multiple friends from your online address book.

Are your friends already here? To search for your friends, simply type their name into the Search bar and click Search. Click on your friend's name or image to go to their profile page. From your friend's profile page, click 'Add as a Friend'. An email will be sent to your friend with your request.

Note: You can also invite your friends when you set up a new team. If you already have a team or group, then from your Team page click Invite a New Member. You can either enter your friend's email addresses one at a time or click Add From My Address Book to invite multiple friends from your online address book.

How do I accept an invitation from a friend or teammate?

If someone wants to add you as a friend or teammate, you will receive a notification, which will appear below the Profile panel. To accept the invitation, click Accept. Note that you will also receive friendship request via email.

Forums

A forum is a discussion on a particular topic. To add a new topic to your Team forum, go to your Team page and click Start a Topic in the Actions panel.
